Mr Steve Royle
Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon

Mr Royle is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon specialising in musculoskeletal trauma, especially of the wrist and hand, but including other fractures, soft tissue and sports injuries.
He treats a wide range of problems including carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, arthritis, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, soft tissue abnormalities and injuries, Dupuytren's contracture, deformities and nerve problems in the upper limb.
Graduating from The University of Manchester in 1982, he went on to complete orthopaedic training and then a trauma fellowship in Seattle, USA. A further fellowship in specialist hand surgery at Wrightington Hospital, Wigan, Lancashire, was followed by his first Consultant post.
For over 22 years, Mr Royle has worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon for the NHS most recently at the Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport, where he was also the Clinical Director of the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department.
Today, as well as his work at South Manchester Diagnostics, he also consults at the Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle and runs an NHS practice from Stepping Hill Hospital. His education commitments include training junior doctors in the principles of fracture management and he also trains and examines junior surgeons for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
